The Rock That Watches Over Us—and Waits

The Indian Head Campground takes its name from a legend involving a young man and his beloved, both of whom were Mi’kmaq.

The legend tells of white men who came from Europe aboard a large sailing ship and one day dropped anchor in a cove not far from Flat Island, which faces Pointe-Saint-Pierre. As they came ashore to stock up on fresh water and wild fruits, they saw a young Native princess in the forest entertaining small children. Captivated by her presence, the men from afar took her by force and sailed away, leaving heartbreak behind.

The sorrowful face, whose gaze is fixed on the cliff, belongs to her lover, who waits tirelessly for her return—resolute in his grief, turning his back to the sea until it brings his beloved back to him.

A corner of paradise

By the sea

At Camping de la Tête d’Indien, our first mission is to offer guests a chance to recharge by the sea.
Our site is perfect for those seeking peace and quiet, meditation, a good book, or simply a deep breath of fresh ocean air. Here, the sea breeze carries the scent of salt and wildflowers, wrapping around you like a gentle embrace as it whispers through the trees and dances across the waves. Once you’re settled into our little corner of paradise, we’re willing to bet—you won’t want to leave!
